The National Road Research Alliance (NRRA) is hosting “Improving Field Moisture Monitoring of Recycled Bases” on February 21 at 10 a.m. CST, presented by Ceren Aydin, Michigan State University and Raul Velasquez, MnDOT.
The NRRA’s monthly seminar highlights research topics that will make an impact on the work done here in the state of Minnesota and around the country.
In this study, a series of experiments has been conducted to suggest improvements for installation techniques and data interpretation of soil moisture and water potential sensors. Suggested installation guidelines developed by this research minimize wash-out and erosion potential at soil-sensor interface; reliability and survivability rate of both moisture and water potential sensors at MnROAD were improved.
